YANKIFORUM

I'd take the train from El Fuerte. El Fuerte is worth checking out for a day or two but it will be HOT, HOT, HOT in the summer. Last time I took a van from the Los Mochis airport to El Fuerte, but I forget the cost. If you get stuck in Los Mochis at least you could get a good seafood dinner (tostadas de cerviche or cóctel de mariscos con pulpo, hhhmmmm).El Fuerte is a nice, quiet colonial town on the swimmable El Fuerte river. I recommend staying in the Rio Vista lodge which overlooks the river from the hill next to the partially reconsturcted fuerte (fort). The manager can take you on a boat & walking tour across the river to see an incredible array of petroglyphs, tropical birds, and a conquistador era cabin. Once on the train, you can disembark at Bohuichivo and get a van down to Urique as #3 says, but again, Urique on the canyon bottom will be brutally hot in the summer (although you will be on the very swimmable Urique river). From Urique you could backpack over the mountains to Batopilas, but only with a Tarahuamara guide (you'll get lost for sure on the millions of goat trails). Before doing any back country hiking, check locally on narco activity in the area. The barrancas are a major pot and poppy growing region (the narcos will leave you alone if you leave them alone).Another idea as #3 suggests is staying in the cooler mountains on top. Along with #3's suggestions I'd recommend Uno Lodge (check the web), a small solar powered retreat perched on the brink of the barrancas, or the newly constructed and more luxurious Ceracahui Lodge near the town of the same name.
Mirar lo que he encontrado: Anda que si es como el Darek me lo pido eh?
